Drunk Motorcycle Rider Sustained Injuries in Antipolo Road Accident
A drunk motorcycle rider was injured after crashing into an oncoming tricycle along Marcos Highway in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Antipolo City, Rizal.
On Tuesday night, February 24, 2026, a drunk rider crashed into a tricycle on a curved part of the road that residents say is known for frequent accidents.
According to a resident named Angelo Millares, who witnessed the incident, the rider was speeding as he approached the curve. Because of his fast speed, he lost control of the motorcycle and swerved into the opposite lane.
He then hit a white tricycle that was coming from the other direction. CCTV footage from the area supported the witness’s statement and showed how the rider overshot the curve before the collision.
“Galing ‘yung motor doon, ang tulin eh. Pag kurba niya hindi niya kinaya, nag overshoot siya. Nasagi niya ‘yung bajaj na puti,” Millares said.
The rider suffered injuries to his face and head and was seen bleeding after the crash. Residents who rushed to the scene noticed that he appeared to be intoxicated. His back rider reportedly left the area right after the accident, leaving him behind.
“Putok ‘yung dito niya pati sa ulo. Lasing pa,” he added.
Police officers who were patrolling nearby quickly responded to the scene. While checking the injured rider, authorities found an improvised gun, locally known as a sumpak, inside a plastic bag he was carrying. The weapon reportedly had ammunition.
The Antipolo Police are now investigating the case. The rider may face charges for illegal possession of firearms and reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property.
Barangay officials also reminded motorists to be extra careful when passing through that part of Marcos Highway. They described it as an accident-prone area, especially because of the sharp curve. Plans are underway to put up warning signs to remind drivers to slow down and stay alert, whether they have been drinking or not.
