What Happened When This Newscaster Tried to Report on Bol Bol
BOL BOL – A routine sports report suddenly turned into a viral moment after a news anchor struggled to keep a straight face while delivering her lines.
A lighthearted moment recently unfolded on Philippine television when a sports segment turned unexpectedly funny for a news anchor. What began as a routine report about a basketball star’s arrival quickly became a viral clip after the anchor struggled to contain her laughter on air.
During the February 20 newscast of “Balitang A2Z,” news anchor Barbie Muhlach delivered a sports report about the arrival in the Philippines and upcoming stint of NBA player Bol Bol in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). The basketball star is set to play for TNT Tropang 5G, a move that has sparked excitement among local basketball fans.

At the start of the segment, Barbie could be seen trying her best to remain composed. However, as the report went on, she could no longer hold back her laughter. Despite the visible struggle, the seasoned news personality managed to finish delivering the story while laughing, maintaining her professionalism even in a candid moment.
The clip was later shared by her co-anchor, Raff Herida, who playfully teased her with the caption, “Kaya pa Ms Barbie Muhlach?”
Barbie also posted the video herself and explained what caused her to break into laughter. According to her, it was the reaction of their colleagues inside the studio that triggered her amusement.
“Kasalanan mo to Kaka Raff Herida. Buti naman at we can all share a light hearted moment ahead of yet another series of stressful and polarizing news events this coming week. Been paying my due in media since 2009 and di ko talaga akalain matatawa pa ko but It’s the muffled laughs at the studio that really got me ahahaha. I just hope we did not offend Mr. Bol,” she said.
Her candid explanation further endeared her to viewers, many of whom appreciated the rare and relatable on-air blooper. In an industry often marked by serious and sometimes heavy news coverage, the brief burst of laughter served as a refreshing pause.
While the moment was unintended, it showcased the human side of broadcast journalism, reminding audiences that even seasoned anchors can have spontaneous, genuine reactions on live television.
