Female Netizen Vents Frustration After ATM Machine Swallows Partner’s Card While Withdrawing Money
A female netizen was disappointed after an ATM machine reportedly swallowed her partner’s card while she was withdrawing money.
Recently, Mary Ann, a Facebook user, shared a photo of the ATM machine that captured her card while she was trying to withdraw cash. The post quickly went viral and received reactions online.
Mary Ann explained that the machine was located just in front of the establishment where she works. In the past, she had heard other people complain that their cards were captured by the same ATM.

At that time, she would simply wonder what it would feel like if it ever happened to her. Unfortunately, that situation became real on February 13 at around 2 p.m.
According to her story, the machine suddenly froze while she was withdrawing money. The buttons stopped working, and she began to feel nervous. When she called the security guard for help, she was informed that the ATM had already captured the card.
The female netizen immediately went inside the bank to report what happened. The situation became more stressful because the card did not belong to her. It was her partner’s payroll ATM card, issued by his company for salary deposits every 15th and 30th of the month.
Because of strict bank policies, only the card owner can personally claim a captured card. This meant her partner had to deal with the process himself.
She also had to inform her partner’s company that the payroll card was no longer usable. The incident made her worry about possible delays in accessing their income.
Here is the full post:
“Since the BDO ATM machine is just in front of the establishment where I work, whenever people complained before that their cards were swallowed, I would ask myself, “What if my ATM card gets eaten/captured someday?” Eventually, it happened to me last February 13 at around 2pm. The machine froze, and I was like, “Why the buttons won’t work anymore?” I called the guard, and he said, “Your ATM card got swallowed/captured ma’am.” I started sweating nervously and went inside the bank to report the incident.
The problem is, the ATM card isn’t even mine, it belongs to my partner and is issued by their company for payroll deposits every 15th and 30th. It’s such a hassle because they have strict rules, you can’t retrieve the card unless you are the actual card owner. Only the owner can claim it when they return.
What made it worse was that I had to report the incident to my partner’s company so they would know the ATM card is no longer usable.
Now I find myself asking again, “What if my partner and I had a child, and I didn’t have a job, relying solely on his income? What would we eat if something like this happened and the ATM card got swallowed/captured?” Hayyyysss.”
The social media users expressed their reactions to the post:
