WHO IS ALVIN ARAGON? Here’s what we know about him from his StarStruck journey, marriage to Izzy Trazona, and recent controversies.
Alvin Aragon was born on October 28, 1989, at San Juan De Dios Hospital. He grew up in Tramo, Pasay. He was only five years old when his mother died of ovarian cancer, and his father raised him until third grade. Not long after, his father passed away.
With both of his parents no longer there, he was left in the care of his maternal grandmother and lived under her care from ages 10 to 14.
At 14 years old, he entered the show business industry and became famous when he joined GMA-7’s StarStruck (Season 1), the 2003 reality-talent show whose “Ultimate Survivors” were Mark Herras and Jennylyn Mercado. He was a StarStruck Avenger.
At the time, he was the youngest contestant in the pilot season and, at the same time, the first-ever Avenger to exit in StarStruck history. After his stint in StarStruck, he joined some projects, such as Kilig… Pintig… Yanig… (2004), Ilumina (2010), and The Good Daughter (2012).
From his showbiz career, his path turned to his faith. During interviews, he is known for his explicitly biblical terms, and his remarks lean heavily on scripture-based arguments about morality, identity, and culture.
He shared that in 2009, a friend brought him to a Christian service in Ortigas, where a mentor urged him to repent and end a relationship that was considered unbiblical. Alvin said the experience marked a turning point in his life, reshaping his desires, habits, and overall perspective.
Faith plays a significant role in Alvin’s relationship with Izzy Trazona, a former member of the SexBomb Girls. They got married on February 18, 2012, at Le Jardin de Rosella Tagaytay. Accordingly, they have mutually committed to share their first kiss only at the wedding.
Their union was centered on “words ni Lord.”
Izzy has a transgender daughter, Sofia Trazona, from a past relationship. Recently, Aragon’s anti-gay remarks gained attention online and were heavily criticized. Excerpts of those remarks, picked up by various entertainment outlets, sparked widespread backlash, with critics accusing him of intolerance while supporters defended the statements as expressions of religious conviction.
He even defended Izzy’s decision to leave her group, saying she was made to resign by her faith. From a husband’s standpoint, he also doesn’t like the idea that people are staring at something that should be exclusive in his eyes only. It was an idea people online argued as something that actually speaks more about him.
