This is the love advice from President Bongbong Marcos.
As we celebrate Valentine’s Day, President Bongbong Marcos shares love advice for couples, underscoring the essence of giving.
As years pass by, the celebration of love is growing broader, more inclusive, and more creative than ever. The special Valentine’s Day goes beyond flowers and chocolates. At the core, this day is extra as love is expressed through action with appreciation, kindness, and meaningful connection.

For this special day, President Bongbong Marcos released a vlog and shared the real essence of this day. He stressed that the core of this celebration is “bigayan,” which is the secret to keeping a long and healthy relationship.
As much as we all know, the president has been married to First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos for over 30 years. In their journey, he learned that compromise and understanding are the keys to a lasting relationship.
“Dapat nagbibigayan lang at nagkakaunawaan ang mag-asawa. Hindi puwedeng ‘my way or no way,’ dahil kapag ganoon, may isang laging malungkot. Kaya bigayan lang,” he said.
He also shared that balancing work and family can be challenging, but they make the most of sudden free moments by going on brief trips to strengthen their bond. This is not easy, but they always do their best.
For the young people, he stressed that the foundation of a strong romantic relationship is genuine friendship. This is something that naturally develops over time. In the same video, he shared that he still believes in the traditional concept of “ligaw,” or courtship. Dating and relationships have changed today, but he still prefers the traditional way, while acknowledging modern dating practices, including dating apps.
For the youth, he expressed, “Enjoy yourselves. Enjoy each other’s company. It is rare to find someone… who you have a very nice time together,” he said. “Bumalik tayo doon sa konsepto ng friendship… Once you have found it and it’s Valentine’s Day, enjoy it to the fullest. It is a lovely feeling.”
