Veteran actress Vangie Labalan passes away.
Another legend of Philippine cinema has taken her final bow, as veteran actress Vangie Labalan passes away at the age of 83.
One of the most versatile actresses of the industry was Vangie Labalan. Today, the Philippine entertainment industry mourns the passing of the veteran actress. She passed away at the age of 83 in Australia after being admitted to a hospital.

According to her son, Carlo, his mother died at noon on February 12 due to an illness. In a Facebook post, Carlo shared the heartbreaking news.
He wrote, “With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Vangie Labalan (Ma. Christina Bonghanoy Labalan). She passed away today in Australia due to illness, surrounded by those dearest and nearest to her heart. Her memories will forever remain in our hearts.”
She turned 83 last January 20 and will be coming home soon. Details about her wake and funeral services will be announced in the following days. The veteran actress’ son expressed his gratitude for the prayers, love, and support they received as they are going through this difficult time.
Vangie’s last project was a guest appearance in ABS-CBN’s primetime series “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.”
Her career began in radio in 1962. She lent her voice to dramas and programs that reached homes in Negros, and this was the time when she learned the discipline of timing, emotion, and authenticity.
Her life took a pivotal turn in 1979 when legendary filmmaker Ishmael Bernal discovered her natural talent during a dubbing session. Struck by her raw emotional depth, Bernal encouraged her to fully embrace a career in film.
She was Aling Saling in Himala, an unforgettable role for her. She also starred in Alyas Baby Tsina, Miguelito: Ang Batang Rebelde, and Curacha: Ang Babaeng Walang Pahinga.
Vangie was also a part of several TV series, such asAnna Luna (1989–1995), Marinella (2000–2001), Sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan (2001), Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay (2002), Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas (2003), Ang Iibigin Ay Ikaw (2003), Marinara (2004), Twin Hearts (2005), Encantadia (2005), Bakekang (2006), Kung Mahawi Man ang Ulap (2007), Ako Si Kim Samsoon (2008), Darna (2009), Diva (2010), Jejemom (2010), Imortal (2010–2011), and Inday Will Always Love You (2018).
