Man Snatched Cellphone to Fund Valentine’s Day Date w/ Girlfriend
A man was arrested in Barangay Roosevelt, Dinalupihan, Bataan after snatching a cellphone to get money for a Valentine’s Day date with his girlfriend.
Valentine’s Day is a special day celebrated every year on February 14. It is known as a day for love, care, and appreciation. Couples may go on dates, share meals, or spend quiet time together.
Recently, a 35-year-old suspect snatched a female victim’s cellphone and tried to escape. The woman immediately asked for help, drawing the attention of nearby residents.

Police officers in the area quickly responded, leading to the arrest of the suspect not long after the incident. He was brought to the police station for questioning.
During the investigation, the man explained that he committed the act because he wanted money for an upcoming Valentine’s Day date. He said he hoped to sell or use the cellphone to get cash so he could buy flowers and prepare something special for his girlfriend.
Instead of celebrating Valentine’s Day with her, he now faces the holiday in jail.

The victim was able to recover her cellphone, which was worth more than 5,000 pesos. Even after getting her phone back, she decided to push through with filing a robbery complaint. She said the experience left her shaken and believed that such actions should have consequences, no matter the reason behind them.
The public is reminded that crimes cannot be justified by personal reasons or special occasions. They also urged people to remain cautious in public places and to report incidents right away to help keep the community safe.
The incident shows how poor decisions can quickly change lives, and desperation only led to serious trouble.
