For the first time, Catriona Gray spoke about what happened in their relationship.

Beauty queen-actress Catriona Gray shared that months after proposing, Sam Milby realized he was not ready for the big commitment.

In February 2025, Sam Milby confirmed the split with Catriona Gray, but he did not go into further details as to what fueled their separation. To recall, it was in May 2024 when speculations about their relationship being in trouble surfaced.

They were engaged, but the wedding was called off when they broke up.

“It wasn’t only [na] mag-boyfriend and girlfriend kami; we were engaged. To have that not pushed through, it’s been really rough, honestly,” Sam admitted. He also confessed that the split was difficult for him.

Recently, at peace and filled with joy, Catriona candidly talked about the separation. It was difficult for her and hurtful that she had to go through therapy, but at that moment during her interview with Karen Davila, she spoke lightly.

According to her, months after the proposal, Milby realized that he was not ready for that kind of commitment. This was the emotional turning point that ultimately changed the course of their relationship. This was the art where things began to shift.

“There was a point in our relationship where he just realized that he wasn’t ready to take it to the stage of commitment that we thought we were on because he proposed, and then a few months later realized that hindi pala siya ready,” she expressed without denying how this chapter pained her.

She was also blindsided because she loved the person. She tried to understand and adjust, believing that love requires patience and compromise. However, she eventually came to a difficult but clarifying realization.

“I really tried to make it work, and I was willing to adjust because when you love someone, you’re willing to understand them,” she said in the interview, and added, “But it got to a point na at that age and what we’ve been through, kung hindi ka pa rin sure, I think that’s an answer already.”

She chose herself. She chose to walk away, and it was one of the hardest decisions she had ever made. It was hard, but at the same time, necessary. She emphasized that her long-term goals played a significant role in her decision, sharing her desire to build a family in the future.

After the separation, she sought therapy to help process the emotional toll and support her healing journey. She is now in a better situation and dating someone not in showbiz.
