Tito Sotto Urges Bato dela Rosa to Forgo Salary Amid Absence

For Tito Sotto, Bato dela Rosa should do this

Senate President Tito Sotto urged Senator dela Rosa to forgo his salary amid his absence.

For more than two months now, Dela Rosa has been absent from Senate sessions. This was after reports circulated that the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant against him regarding his supposed involvement in the controversial war on drugs program of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

The Senator is one of the known allies of the former president, who is now being detained in The Hague for his alleged crime against humanity.

Dela Rosa’s absence has garnered polarizing comments, and his critics have been sharing negative reactions against him on social media.

In a recent report from Bandera, it was said that Sen. Tito Sotto advised Sen. Bato dela Rosa to waive his salary since he has not been reporting.

Sotto shared that he aims for the Senate to have a clear policy when it comes to absences. As of the moment, the Senate has no specific rule regarding this matter.

For the Senate President, it is high time to impose a clear policy about Senators’ absences, as people have been criticizing Dela Rosa for not showing up.

Previously, Sen. Tito Sotto said that even though Sen. Bato dela Rosa has been absent, his office continues to operate. Sen. Win Gatchalian also stated that Dela Rosa should return to work already.

Meanwhile, Sen. Robin Padilla greeted Sen. Bato dela Rosa on his birthday last January 21. Through a social media post, the actor-turned-politician shared his photo with the former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief.

Padilla expressed that it was an honor for him to work with Dela Rosa. The former even said that the latter is a leader who is not afraid to stand for the truth.
