Bong Revilla asserts that he is innocent.
Former senator Bong Revilla surrendered to the authorities after the release of a warrant in a flood control case, but maintains his innocence.
Bong Revilla surrendered to the Philippine National Police (PNP) at Camp Crame in Quezon City on Monday, January 19. This was shortly after the Sandiganbayan Third Division issued a warrant of arrest and a hold departure order against Revilla. The warrant also covered other individuals, such as the following:
- former DPWH Bulacan First District Engineering Office (DEO) assistant district engineer Brice Hernandez
- former DPWH Bulacan First DEO Engr. Jaypee Mendoza
- former DPWH Bulacan First DEO Engr. Arjay Domasig
- former DPWH Bulacan First DEO Engr. Emelita Juat
- former DPWH Bulacan First DEO finance section chief Juanito Mendoza, at
- DPWH Bulacan First District Engineering Office cashier Christina Pineda
Sandiganbayan issued an arrest warrant for Revilla and several others for malversation and falsification charges.
Before he surrendered, he was able to make and share a video of himself, expressing his thoughts about the arrest and the lack of due process. He was sad about it and maintained that he was innocent, and this is the reason why he will fearlessly face the charges.
“Nakakalungkot po, parang wala yatang due process. Pero ganun pa man, haharapin ko ito nang walang takot at alam kong hindi ako pababayaan ng Diyos dahil wala po akong kasalanan dito. Hihilingin ko lang, hihingi ako ng panalangin at patatagin ninyo rin po ang aking pamilya,” he stated.
He asked for prayers for himself and his family, who found their current situation painful with his arrest.
Meanwhile, when Revilla went to Camp Crame, he was accompanied by his wife, Cavite 2nd District Representative Lani Mercado Revilla, and their children, Cavite 1st District Representative Jolo Revilla and Agimat Party-list Representative Bryan Revilla.
