Derek Ramsay returns to acting
Actor Derek Ramsay, in a recent interview, talked about his decision to have his showbiz comeback.
Derek has done various TV and movie projects. However, when the pandemic hit, the actor, just like many showbiz personalities, opted to lie low.
Back in 2022, a fan asked Derek on social media regarding his projects, as his supporters already missed him. However, the actor had a short answer to this. He wrote, “Retired.”
In recent years, Derek Ramsay focused on his family. He married Cebuana celebrity Ellen Adarna and had their daughter, Lili. However, that relationship ended last year. Derek and Ellen broke up, and several issues surfaced surrounding their separation.
This year, Derek is set to have his showbiz comeback. In a recent interview, based on the article in The Philippine Star, the actor said that he never thought that he would return to acting. “I thought I was done,” he said, adding that he was focused on his family and on the next chapter of his life.
Derek also said that there were offers, but he declined, and he would turn down the offer even though some may think that it would be the “right project.”
“In the six years (I was away), there were nights when I did think about (acting) and yeah, I missed it…I love my craft but then life goes on, and you enter a new chapter. I was in that chapter. Never did I think it would bring me back but here I am,” he said.
The actor admitted that he felt nervous about returning to showbiz. He will be part of the APT Entertainment and MediaQuest-produced primetime epic series The Kingdom: Magkabilang Mundo.
It’s nerve-wracking for him as it has been a while since his last acting project, and his character in the series is not a small and easy role. “It’s kinda how my career started. I didn’t know anything about acting, and then they threw me in as one of the lead actors in ‘Panday,’ which is similar to this guy Rajah Siyam, a badass character,” he shared.
Derek Ramsay said that he felt nervous, and that it meant that he cared. He stressed that this is his craft. When asked what made him come back to acting, he said that there were things that happened in his life that he never expected to happen. For him, this might be a sign to refocus his mind.
