Mariel Rodriguez & Toni Gonzaga Share a Bold Take on Why Women Should Never Chase Men

Mariel Rodriguez & Toni Gonzaga Drop a Truth Bomb About Self-Worth & Relationships

TONI GONZAGA – Their honest reflections on past mistakes and lessons learned struck a chord with many women navigating modern relationships.

Mariel Rodriguez and Toni Gonzaga recently offered empowering perspectives on self-worth and romantic relationships, stressing that women should never put themselves in a position where they have to pursue men. As members of the popular group known as “Kuya’s Angels,” the two spoke openly about the respect and value women deserve in love.

Their discussion unfolded in a recent episode of Bianca Gonzalez’s podcast, where Bianca asked her co-hosts what advice they would give their younger selves about relationships. Bianca candidly reflected on her past, admitting that some of her experiences now make her feel uneasy when she looks back.

Bianca said, “Ang ia-advice ko lang sa younger self ko, huwag mo nang habulin. Parang nahihiya ako sa sarili ko thinking now ‘yong ginawa kong paghahabol before trying to win person back. ‘Pag ginawa ng daughters natin ‘yon, ‘di ba?”

Mariel immediately related to Bianca’s realization and shared that this lesson is something she is already teaching her own child. She emphasized the importance of guiding young girls early on in maintaining their dignity and respecting themselves in relationships.

“I always think that,” said Mariel, “How am I going to tell her? At this age, sinasabi ko na sa kaniya. Girls never chase after boys. Never.”

Toni Gonzaga also agreed with Mariel and reiterated the message that women must be aware of their worth. She pointed out that women should not feel obligated to prove themselves or plead for affection from anyone.

“Tayo ang hinahabol. We are the prize. We are the trophy,” sabi niya.

Toni went on to explain that love should not come from enduring hardship or emotional sacrifice just to be accepted.

Toni added, “‘Yong ‘you have to earn the love,’ hindi mo kailangang i-earn ang love—”

Mariel then clarified this idea further by explaining who should take responsibility for earning trust and affection within a relationship.

“Because they have to prove themselves to you,” said Mariel.

The sincere exchange resonated with many listeners, particularly women who have experienced similar situations in their own lives. Bianca wrapped up the conversation by sharing her hope that their daughters would not repeat the same mistakes they made in their youth, emphasizing that understanding and wisdom often grow with age and reflection.

Overall, the honest dialogue among Mariel, Toni, and Bianca served as a strong reminder that self-respect should always come first, and genuine love should never involve chasing or compromising one’s dignity.
