The death of Catalina Cabral ignited a lot of theories
Former Department of Public Works and Highways Undersecretary Catalina Cabral died, and a netizen shared a theory that dragged the missing bride.
On December 19, reports circulated that Cabral fell off a cliff and died. Her name was dragged into the issue of anomalous flood control projects of DPWH. Several speculations surfaced surrounding her death.
For some, it was her decision to take her life. However, in a 2018 interview, the former public official shared that her biggest phobia was “heights,” and this slammed the statement that Cabral wanted to spend time near a cliff.

Some people believed that there was foul play. However, her family and the authorities eliminated this possibility. The Department of the Interior and Local Government also confirmed that, through a DNA test, it was identified that the remains found 20 to 30 meters below the highway in the Camp 5 area of Barangay Camp 4 belonged to Catalina Cabral.

In line with this matter, a netizen shared a post about the incident that happened to a missing bride-to-be. It was reported that Sherra De Juan was supposed to marry her fiancé, Mark Arjay Reyes, on December 14, 2025; however, four days before their wedding, she went missing.
The netizen’s wild theory claimed that the missing bride was abducted to replace Cabral. “Hindi kaya dinukot si missing bride, para magpanggap na Cabral. Kasi parang may resemblence grabe kung totoo, nakakatakot naman,” an art card stated this that was shared on Reddit.

Most netizens who commented on this laughed at the theory. For them, it was like a scene in a drama TV series or a movie. “Claudia Buenavista yarn madam Cabral? mas magaling pang umarte yung kamag anak nyo sa inyo po,” a netizen commented.
Some netizens even found humor in the netizen’s “thick plottens” instead of “plot thickens.”
