Gabbi Garcia Opens Up About Overcoming PCOS

In a post, Gabbi Garcia shares her journey.

Kapuso actress Gabbi Garcia shares in a post her journey in overcoming polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a hormonal disorder.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder that has no cure and is common among women of reproductive age. Many struggle with this disorder, and among the most common symptoms are acne breakout, weight gain, and hirsutism.

Among the many women who are battling this disorder every day is Kapuso actress Gabbi Garcia.

She opened up about her bout with PCOS while championing body positivity. She also shared a documentation of her fitness journey, and how it has become her safe space while dealing with the complicated condition.

“Movement became my safe space. My release. My stress reliever. My reset. I didn’t start working out to chase a certain body. I started because I wanted to feel strong, healthy, and good in my own skin,” she shared.

She recalled that it was in 2018 when she was diagnosed with PCOS, and three years ago, she pushed herself to move. She decided to show up for her body and to take care of it instead of fighting it.

Garcia acknowledged how she would often appear “fat” or “bloated” on television, and the days when she would appear with a moon face and her PCOS belly showing up. But right now, what matters to her is what she feels about her body. She is now at a point in her life where her focus is on her strength and state of health.

She underscored, “Kaya kong tumakbo. Kaya kong magbuhat. Kaya ko sarili ko. Being ‘sexy’ the way society defines it is honestly the least of my priorities. This journey taught me body positivity in the truest sense. To be kinder to my body, to listen to it, and to appreciate everything it allows me to do.”
