Chavit Singson Eyes Miss Universe Takeover Amid Growing Controversies

Chavit Singson Says “I Might Buy It” — Miss Universe Talks Heat Up

CHAVIT SINGSON – Former Ilocos Sur governor Luis “Chavit” Singson has set social media abuzz after openly expressing interest in acquiring the Miss Universe Organization amid its ongoing controversies.

Former Ilocos Sur governor and businessman Luis “Chavit” Singson has once again sparked discussion after expressing interest in acquiring the Miss Universe Organization (MUO), which has recently been beset by controversies. In an interview with GMA Lifestyle, Singson addressed rumors circulating online that he had already declined the opportunity to buy the global beauty franchise, clarifying that discussions are still ongoing.

Singson’s renewed interest comes at a time when the MUO continues to face issues involving its current president, Raul Rocha, and reigning Miss Universe Fatima Bosch, following the pageant’s finals in Bangkok last month. These developments, according to Singson, were among the reasons that prompted him to reconsider stepping in.

“Things are not yet final, but they’ll come here next month,” Singson told the news outlet, suggesting that representatives of the organization are expected to visit the Philippines for further talks.

The seasoned businessman shared that he had already instructed his daughter to initiate communication with the MUO, as he is seriously considering taking over its operations. His intention, he said, is not only to purchase the organization but also to personally manage it if negotiations move forward. Singson believes that his experience and resources could help stabilize and improve the franchise amid its current challenges.

His daughter, widely believed to be Richelle Singson, is no stranger to the Miss Universe brand. Richelle previously served as chairperson of the Miss Universe Host Committee during the Miss Universe 2016 pageant, which was successfully staged in the Philippines. Her involvement adds credibility to Singson’s possible role in steering the organization should the acquisition push through.

“They’re coming to the Philippines next month. I might run Miss Universe. I might buy it,” Singson said, underscoring that the possibility remains open.

This is not the first time Singson has been linked to Miss Universe. In 2023, he revealed that he had also been offered ownership of the franchise but ultimately chose not to pursue it at the time due to the demands of running such a large-scale operation.

“Binibigay sa akin pero hindi ko binili kasi masyadong matrabaho. Sabi ko, tutulong na lang ako,” he said.

With talks reportedly back on the table, many are now watching closely to see whether Singson will finally take the helm of one of the world’s most iconic beauty pageants.
