Chavit Singson suggested that PBBM should resign rather than be overthrown
Former Ilocos Sur Governor Chavit Singson asserted that he is not pro-Marcos or pro-Duterte, and that he is “anti-corruption.”
To recall, Singson called out to the people that President Bongbong Marcos “should be removed” during the September 21 anti-corruption rally. Because of this, the Palace said that he may be held liable for inciting to sedition.
Singson’s reaction to this was that he was willing to face the consequences if the accusation against him was true. For his statement against the current President, people accused him of being a supporter of Vice President Sara Duterte.

In a recent interview on One News PH’s The Big Story, Chavit Singson stressed that he is not talking to VP Sara and that it is not true that he is angry with PBBM because her is supporting the Vice President.
Then, the former governor said that he suggested that President Marcos would just resign rather than be ousted, just like what happened to his father, the late President Ferdinand Marcos.
“Mas maganda, mas honorable ‘pag nag-resign. Huwang na antayin magali, galit ang tao eh,” Singson said. He also clarified that he had this call not because he wanted VP Sara to be the next president.

For him, if PBBM resigns, the Supreme Court will take over and will serve as a “caretaker” in the meantime, until the next president is elected.
Chavit Singson also stressed that he has trust in the Supreme Court to do what is right for the country and change the government because, for him, “nakakahiya na tayo sa buong mundo.”
Meanwhile, in the same interview, the businessman-politician denied that he was one of the people who were allegedly behind the destabilization plan against the Marcos administration.
