Vince Maristela and Ralph de Leon react to the recent issues about green jokes inside the Pinoy Big Brother in its latest edition.
In a previous article, many viewers called out the alarming issues that transpired inside the Pinoy Big Brother house in its “PBB: Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0.” Many were alarmed over the green jokes and remarks about objectifying women among the male teen housemates.
To others, it is more worrisome considering that the housemates are minors.
Gabriela called out the management of PBB, urging them to conduct gender-sensitivity seminars for the housemates, as the issue has just shown the wider issue of “birong bastos” becoming normal among young people.
Former housemates, Vince Maristela and Ralph de Leon, of the well-loved Season 1 of the celebrity collaboration, reacted to the issue. De Leon admitted that the actions and remarks were disappointing. According to him, they have to be mindful of sensitive matters such as this and of boundaries, especially among women.
“Hindi lang po bilang ex-PBB housemate, bilang lalaki din po. Nakakalungkot po. Nakakalungkot talaga. I mean, whether you are living in the same house, or in the same area with another woman, it shouldn’t be like that,” de Leon said.
Maristela, on the other hand, acknowledged that sometimes men can make such jokes, but he believes that it shouldn’t be done at the expense of a woman. There has to be a limitation, and that he also has a mother and a sister to consider.
If they were in the situation, they would immediately apologize. However, an apology without change is just useless. De Leon stress that one has to act when apologizing.
