Emil Sumangil shared this post about this current issue
Kapuso veteran journalist Emil Sumangil reacted to the findings of the Department of Justice (DOJ) on the missing sabungeros case.
Sumangil followed the story of missing cockfighting enthusiasts after whistleblower Julie “Dondon” Patidongan, or Alias Totoy, made revelations and dragged the name of businessman Atong Ang and former actress Gretchen Barretto. Ang and Barretto had been business partners for several years already.
Reports also surfaced that human remains were discovered at Taal Lake. Amid this issue that involved prominent names in the Philippines, Sumangil did not hesitate to cover the story and interview the whistleblower.

With this huge issue, the wife of Emil Sumangil asked for prayers from the public as he received death threats. After this, many people noticed the journalist’s absence in the Kapuso primetime news program 24 Oras, in which he is one of the main news anchors. However, Sumangil assured his supporters that he was fine.
Amid the threats that he received, the journalist stressed that he will continue to disclose the story of missing sabungeros.

Just recently, the DOJ released its findings on the case of missing sabungeros. The justice department found prima facie evidence with reasonable certainty of conviction to charge Atong Ang and twenty-four other individuals.
Following that decision from the DOJ, Sumangil shared a post on his official Facebook page regarding this matter. “At last…. JUSTICE for MISSING SABUNGEROS!” he wrote and included the hashtag “In God We Trust.”
In the comment section of his post, the Kapuso veteran journalist received support from many netizens. Some netizens also thanked him for his effort in revealing the truth. “Salamat Emil Sumangil for being an instrument of God’s justice, in his time,” a netizen commented. Here are some comments.
