LTO Suspends Father’s License After Allowing Minor Daughter to Drive
The Land Transportation Office is calling for the attention of a father who allowed his minor daughter to drive a vehicle during heavy rain.
The agency issued a show-cause order, giving him three days to explain why his driver’s license should not be suspended or canceled. If he fails to respond, it will be considered as giving up his right to defend himself, and the penalty will be enforced immediately.
According to the agency, LTO chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao directed OIC Regional Director Geronimo Santos of LTO Regional Office 2 in Tuguegarao City to suspend the father’s license for 90 days.

The announcement came after a video went viral showing the minor driving a car while the father was seated at the back. The situation raised alarm because it placed the child, the father, and other motorists at risk.
The LTO said the father may face charges for Reckless Driving and allowing an Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle. These violations highlight how dangerous it is to let a minor control a vehicle, especially under unsafe conditions like heavy rain.
Under the show-cause order, the father must submit a written explanation within the required period. If he ignores it, the LTO will proceed with the suspension and other possible penalties.

Asec. Lacanilao reminded the public that letting a minor drive is extremely unsafe. He emphasized that road safety should always be a priority and that parents play a big role in keeping their children and the community protected.
The incident reminds all vehicle owners to act responsibly. Allowing someone without a proper license and enough driving skills to handle a vehicle can lead to accidents and serious consequences.
The LTO hopes this action will encourage more drivers to follow the rules and help keep the roads safer for everyone.
