Gloria Diaz Slammed By Netizens For Saying P500 For Noche Buena Is Enough

Gloria Diaz was asked about her views on the noche buena budget issue

Veteran actress Gloria Diaz was slammed by netizens for saying that a P500 budget for noche buena is enough.

The Miss Universe 1969 supported the statement of Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Cristina Roque regarding the noche buena budget that Filipino families could have.

This was easily slammed by netizens and stressed that the DTI Secretary’s statement was out of touch, and accused of not knowing the real situation of the majority of the people. However, Sec. Roque insisted that a P500 budget for noche buena is possible.

Many netizens also shared their thoughts on this, and a majority of them opposed what DTI stated, such as Kapamilya host Luis Manzano and his wife, actress Jessy Mendiola. Luis even shared that he knows 3 people who have a P150,000 budget for noche buena.

The cast members of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2025 entry Rekonek were asked about their thoughts on the P500 noche buena that the DTI suggested.

Celebrity couple Zoren Legaspi and Carmina Villarroel both said that this is not enough. Kapamilya actress Charlie Dizon and Kapuso actor Kelvin Miranda also believed that P500 is not enough for Noche Buena.

On the other hand, Gloria Diaz said that this is enough. “Of course, pwede. And by the way, Cris is a good friend of mine. She showed me all of DTI’s [meal plan] for P500. You can have corned beef, fruit salad, you can have pineapple juice na dinagdagan ng maraming yelo, and you can eat pansit,” the veteran actress said.

Because of this, Gloria became a trending topic on X, formerly Twitter, on Thursday, December 4. Most of the comments from netizens were negative. Here are some tweets against the first Pinay Miss Universe.
