A 55-year-old political science student from Taguig inspired many netizens as he pursues his dream of becoming a lawyer.
The ride-hailing app driver as Tatay Benjie Estilore, he is now a third-year Political Science student who continues to work hard every day while chasing his dream of becoming a lawyer. His inspiring journey was first shared by lawyer Jackie Gan-Cristobal, who met him during a ride.
Estilore was amazed by how he drives passengers in the morning, attends classes in the afternoon, and returns to the road until late at night.
Aside from his studies and work, he is also a scholar of Taguig City, which helps cover his school expenses. Tatay Benjie shared that his desire to finish his education goes beyond earning a diploma.
Tatay Benjie hopes to someday serve the community as a lawyer, using his experiences to help others. His path has not been easy. He started driving for a ride-hailing app in 2015, and during the height of the pandemic in 2020, he enrolled in the Alternative Learning System to complete his junior high school.
The aspiring lawyer moved on to senior high school and continued his studies until he reached college.
Juggling driving and studying is difficult, but he said he continues because he loves what he is doing. Whenever challenges arise, he leans on prayer and the support of his wife, a public school teacher who continues to encourage him. His friends also help keep him motivated.
As the oldest student in his class, his younger classmates fondly treat him like an older brother. He enjoys being part of their group, sharing light conversations and learning alongside them.
He believes education is a lifelong journey and encourages others to keep going while they have support and opportunities.
