Call Center Agent Lost His Life After Fire Broke in Room on Second Floor
A 22-year-old call center agent tragically lost his life in a house fire at Simeona Village in Barangay Concepcion Uno, Marikina City.
On Wednesday afternoon (November 26, 2025), the fire broke out past 4 p.m. and quickly spread through the two-story home where the call center agent victim was staying as a bed spacer.
Authorities shared that the young worker was asleep in a room on the second floor when the flames started. Because of the sudden panic, his companions rushed outside and failed to remember that he was still inside.

Police officer-in-charge Colonel Jenny Tecson explained that the group did not realize someone remained upstairs during the commotion. “Nagkaroon ng panic, hindi na po naalala ng ibang kasama na mayroon pa palang natutulog sa nasabing lugar,” he said.
Nine other occupants, many of whom also work in a Business Process Outsourcing company, were able to escape safely. Investigators believe most of them follow night-shift schedules, which is why they usually sleep during the day or late afternoon to regain energy before their next shift.
The fire also caused concern among employees at a nearby gasoline station. Some of them were resting when they noticed the flames growing fast, leaving them worried because the burning house was close to their workplace.
One gas attendant shared that the situation was tense, but they felt relieved once the fire was contained.
Firefighters from Marikina responded quickly, sending 14 fire trucks to the scene. The fire reached only the first alarm and was finally placed under control past 5 p.m.

The Bureau of Fire Protection continues to investigate the cause of the blaze, including reports of an explosion heard by residents before the fire erupted. Authorities are also assessing the total damage left by the incident.
