Housemaid Caught Stealing Employer’s Engagement & Wedding Rings in Quezon City

Police Arrest Housemaid for Stealing Engagement & Wedding Rings From Employer’s in Quezon City

A housemaid was caught stealing engagement and wedding rings from her employer’s house in Quezon City.

A family in Barangay Pasong Tamo, Quezon City was shocked after a 43-year-old house helper was caught on CCTV stealing their engagement and wedding rings.

The family had gone abroad for a business trip, leaving their valuable items inside their bedroom. The owner placed her rings on top of her drawer before leaving, expecting everything to be safe at home.

When the couple returned, they prepared for an event and planned to use the rings again. However, the owner was surprised when she couldn’t find them in their usual place. This worried her and pushed the family to check their CCTV footage to know what really happened.

The recorded video showed the house helper entering the couple’s bedroom in the afternoon of November 9, 2025. She looked around before going straight to the drawer where the rings were placed. She then took the engagement ring and wedding ring and left the room quietly.

Investigators later learned that the helper had only been working for the family for three months. Despite having several house helpers in the home, she was the only one with access to the couple’s private room because she served as their personal maid.

Police conducted a follow-up operation and arrested the suspect at her house in Sapang Palay, San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan on November 15, 2025. The engagement ring, worth P156,000, was recovered from her.

The suspect admitted that she sold the wedding ring, which originally cost P65,000, for only P9,000 in Recto. She explained that she did it because her grandchild was confined at the hospital and needed treatment.

“Ginawa ko lang naman po yon kasi cinonfine ‘yung apo ko. 50/50 po ‘yung apo ko… Binalik ko ‘yung isa. ‘Yung isa lang ho binenta ko kasi kailangan i-admit apo ko sa ospital,” the suspect said.

The suspect is now detained and facing a qualified theft complaint. Authorities reminded the public to be careful in hiring house helpers and to ensure valuable items are properly secured when leaving the house.
