Authorities Arrest House Helper & Partner for Stealing Over P1 Million Worth of Jewelry From Employer

A house helper and her partner were arrested for allegedly stealing over P1 million worth of jewelry from her employer.

On Wednesday morning, November 12, 2025, a 36-year-old house helper was arrested after being accused of stealing more than P1 million worth of jewelry from her employer in Barangay Culiat, Quezon City.

According to PLt. Col. Jefry Gamboa of the Holy Spirit Police Station, the 46-year-old victim noticed something was wrong when she looked for a ring she had left on her bedroom table the night before. When she checked her jewelry box, she was shocked to find that all her remaining jewelry was missing.

The employer immediately questioned her two helpers, and one of them revealed that the suspect was the last person seen entering the victim’s room. This prompted the victim to call the police hotline for assistance.

When confronted, the house helper admitted taking the missing ring. Investigators later learned that she had not been sleeping at home since October because she spent her nights visiting her boyfriend, who also became a suspect.

Police searched the helper’s room and recovered the missing ring along with pawnshop receipts and documents showing that several pieces of jewelry had already been pawned.

Although the helper initially denied her partner’s involvement, police grew suspicious and visited his residence based on her statements. There, they found a pair of the victim’s missing earrings and more pawn documents.

Investigators confirmed that the helper had been stealing jewelry little by little since August, and her partner was the one pawning them. The stolen items included gold and diamond rings, earrings, and bracelets, with pawn values ranging from a thousand to over ten thousand pesos. The total estimated worth of the stolen jewelry reached P1,185,000.

Both suspects admitted their wrongdoing, saying they used the money mainly for gambling. The helper also said she sent some money to her child.

The victim plans to recover the pawned items using the receipts found and is determined to file qualified theft charges. The helper’s partner will face charges under the anti-fencing law. The helper had only been working in the household for six months, living with the employer’s husband and another helper.
