Maricel Soriano had worked with these famous Filipino directors
Diamond Star Maricel Soriano shared her experience working with these veteran directors in the Philippine entertainment industry.
Maricel, also known as Maria in showbiz, has been in the industry for several decades already. She has worked with a lot of directors, actors, and actresses over the course of her career.
In a recent interview, Maricel was asked about her experience working with prominent directors.

The Diamond Star said that she worked with the late director Lino Brock in the movie Mother Dear in 1982. She said that she felt “bitin” because there were a lot of cast members.
Direk Lino would always go to the taping of her Maricel Drama Special because he and her director, Mama Mel Chionglo, were close. “Kaya everytime na magte-taping kami nagkakaroon kami ng chance na magkuwentuhan ng totoo,” the actress said.
When it comes to direk Ishmael Bernal, Maricel said that the director earned the tag “masungit” because he would throw scripts and various things on set. However, Maricel said that the director was just like that.
The actress would just say to the people on set that they should just go to the other side to avoid being hit by things flying. Maricel also shared that among the directors she worked with, most of her acting projects were with Direk Ishmael.

“Nagalit kasi siya sa akin (kaya may takot na) isang beses dahil late ako. Natsatsa (napagalitan) ako ng bonggang-bongga, nabato ako ng script buti na lang umiwas ako,” she recalled.
Then, she talked about Direk Chito S. Rono. Maricel Soriano said that the director loved having conversations. They would always talk on the set and would laugh hard.
Then, Direk Chito would say to her that she should cry in a certain scene. “Ano? Pagkatapos mo akong patawanin nang patawanin sa kuwentuhan natin, iiyak pala ako? Ni hindi mo mo man lang ako minotivate? Sabi sa akin, “kaya mo ‘to, halika na.’ Ganu’n (siya), salbahe no?” the Diamond Star shared.
