Kim Chiu did not hesitate to extend help amid calamities
Kapamilya actress Kim Chiu shared the reason why she prefers to give her donations personally to calamity victims.
Last October, Kim was one of the many showbiz personalities who donated to the victims of the earthquake in Cebu. As a Cebuana celebrity, she could not help but feel sad for her “kababayans.”
The strong quake last month destroyed a lot of homes. A few days after that unpredictable calamity happened, she was spotted buying construction materials to help rebuild homes. She personally made the purchase.
Kim Chiu received admiration and messages of appreciation because of her effort to help her fellow Cebuanos. In a recent interview, based on a post from The Philippine Star, the Kapamilya actress was asked about her decision to donate to earthquake victims personally.
She shared that when the earthquake happened, they were shooting in Cebu, and she donated personally because she already had doubts about where the money goes when she would donate through monetary means.
“Parang wala na ‘kong tiwala sa pagdo-donate ako ng pera ‘no? Ako na lang bumili kasi ‘yung tiwala natin, nasusukat na rin talaga,” she said.
With questionable trust, Kim just chooses to buy the needed things. In the same interview, she also mentioned the recent flooding in Cebu, which was the first in a long time.
Kim Chiu lamented the situation of many of her fellow Cebuanos after Typhoon Tino hit the country.
Meanwhile, the Kapamilya actress is currently promoting her new series The Alibi with her onscreen partner Paulo Avelino. In a previous interview, Kim explained why she decided to accept more mature roles. In this series, she had to show more skin than in her previous projects. The actress received support from Paulo regarding this. He pointed out that it was needed for Kim’s character.
