Kim Chiu Gets Emotional Over Cebu’s Worst Flooding Yet: “Para hindi na maulit!”

Kim Chiu Breaks Silence on Cebu Tragedy: ‘Sino na naman sisihin natin?’

KIM CHIU – Heartbroken and concerned, Kim Chiu has spoken up about the devastating floods in Cebu, urging authorities to take stronger action to prevent such disasters from happening again.

TV host and actress Kim Chiu expressed her deep sadness and concern over the recent severe flooding in Cebu City, which left countless residents struggling in the aftermath of a destructive storm. In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Kim revealed that although her own hometown was spared from the worst effects, she still felt heartbroken for her fellow Cebuanos who endured the disaster.

“Sana magawa na lahat ng dapat gumawa ng paraan. Para hindi na maulit,”
said Kim during the interview.

Kim Chiu noted that it was the first time such an intense flood had occurred in Cebu, questioning who should be held accountable.

“Sa amin, hindi naman binaha. Pero it is the first time nangyari sa amin sa Cebu nagka ganoon kalalang baha. And sino na naman sisihin natin?” she said.

Large portions of Cebu’s towns and cities were inundated, leaving many residents trapped and causing massive damage to homes, properties, and livelihoods. Thousands were displaced as the floodwaters rose, highlighting once again the growing risks of extreme weather.

Because of this, Kim made another heartfelt appeal for immediate government action and long-term solutions to prevent such disasters from happening again.

She also looked back on a previous calamity that struck Cebu just a month earlier — a magnitude 6.9 earthquake that she personally experienced while filming her new project “The Alibi” with Paulo Avelino.

Kim shared that everyone involved in the production was safe, but the constant aftershocks made it difficult to stay calm.

“Medyo nakaka-praning lang. Naka-stay kami lahat sa hotel. Non-stop aftershocks, so lahat ng kasama namin — sina Ms. Zsa Zsa, sina Sir John… may konting lindol, may dala sila bag at baba sila agad,” she recounted.

As of November 4, 53 towns and cities in Cebu have been placed under a state of calamity due to the destruction caused by Typhoon Tino, underscoring the urgent call for improved disaster response and preparedness across the province.
