Shuvee Etrata Reveals She Once Lived Off Government Aid Before Entering Showbiz
SHUVEE ETRATA – Before becoming a familiar face on television, Pinoy Big Brother alum Shuvee Etrata lived a life far from glamour—one sustained by the government’s 4Ps program.
Former Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition housemate Shuvee Etrata recently opened up about her humble beginnings, revealing that she was once a beneficiary of the government’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) before entering the entertainment industry.
In an interview with Kapamilya broadcast journalist Karen Davila, Shuvee candidly shared the challenges her family faced when both her parents were unemployed and how the 4Ps program helped them survive those difficult times.
“Isa ako sa mga pinapakain ng gobyerno. 4Ps. As in talagang isa ako sa mga binabayaran ng gobyerno. Kasi nga, walang trabaho ‘yong parents ko. Tapos marami na po kaming magkakapatid,” she said.
According to Shuvee, the financial aid they received from the program played a crucial role in helping their large family meet basic needs. “Naranasan ko ‘yong pagbigayan na, bili na kami ng de lata. Mag-grocery na agad kami,” she added, recalling how even simple moments of being able to buy canned goods or groceries brought joy to their household.
However, despite the assistance, life was still far from easy. Shuvee recounted how they had to rely on borrowing money just to get by. “Hindi makautang ‘yong parents ko. Ako ang pinapapunta nila,” she shared, reflecting on how she often bore the burden of finding ways to help her family financially.
As the eldest among nine siblings, Shuvee said she deeply felt the weight of responsibility on her shoulders. Yet, instead of being discouraged, she used those hardships as motivation to strive for a better life.
Today, Shuvee stands as an inspiring example of perseverance and faith. From being a young girl sustained by government aid to becoming a television personality, she has proven that determination, faith, and hope in God can lead to success despite humble beginnings.
Her story serves as a reminder that no matter how difficult one’s circumstances may be, resilience and gratitude can pave the way toward a brighter future.
