Amid the Corruption Issues in PH, Remulla Calls on Senators To Release Copy of SALNs
SENATORS – Despite the request of Ombudsman Boying Remulla on the disclosure of Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth or SALN, only two (2) opposition lawmakers heed the call.
Following his recent appointment as the country’s chief graft-buster, Ombudsman Boying Remulla reopened the SALN of the government officials for public access. Previously, under the term of former Ombudsman Samuel Martires, the consent of the SALN owner was needed.

In the memorandum that lifted the restrictions on the public access to the SALN of government officials, Remulla stated the principle embedded in the Philippine Constitution — “Public office is a public trust”. His office is the repository of the SALN of the president, the vice president, the Constitutional commissions’ officials, as well as the local government officials.
Following the restoration of public access on the SALNs that are within the repository of the Ombudsman, Remulla requested the senators to voluntarily disclosed their assets, liabilities, and net worth. Several senators immediately heed the call.

Senate Pres. Tito Sotto declared a net worth of over P188 millions as of June 2025 based on his SALN. Senate President Pro Tempore Ping Lacson also disclosed a copy of his SALN that showed a high rise in his net worth from P58 million to P244 million in just three (3) years. According to him, he was into business activities during the time when he was not a senator.

Sen. Robin Padilla is one of the senators with no liabilities based on his SALN. His net worth is at P244 million as of December 2024. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, there is already a total of 15 senators who have opened their SALN for public access. They are the following:

On the other side of the 15 senators disclosing their SALNs, 10 senators have yet to reveal the information they have declared regarding their wealth and liabilities. Only two (2) members of the Senate Minority Bloc disclosed their SALN as the following opposition lawmakers have yet to release their SALNs:
- Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano
- Sen. Ronald dela Rosa

Aside from the above-mentioned Minority Bloc senators who have yet to disclose their SALNs, based on the report, Sen. Mark Villar and Sen. Camille Villar have also not yet issued a copy of their SALNs nor give permission to the Senate Secretary for the disclosure of the documents.
The two (2) Senate Minority Bloc senators who revealed their SALNs are Sen. Robin Padilla and Sen. Joel Villanueva. Based on his joint SALN with his wife, Sen. Raffy Tulfo is already a billionaire.
