Taal Volcano 3 Minor Eruptions Recorded On October 26

Phivolcs recorded major eruptions in Taal Volcano

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded three (3) minor eruptions in Taal Volcano on the morning of Sunday, October 26, 2025.

This second most active volcano in the Philippines, became a tourist attraction. However, in recent months, the volcano in the middle of the Taal Lake, posed a danger.

Phivolcs recorded three minor eruptions at its main crater on Sunday morning, based on the report from Inquirer. The first minor eruption was recorded at 2:55 a.m.. It was a minor phreatic eruption occurred, lasting only one minute.

Then, the institute’s record showed that two minor eruptions were recorded from 8:13 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. Phivolcs explained that it was a minor phreatomagmatic eruption that produced plumes that rose to 1,200 meters above the main crater.

A few minutes later, another minor phreatomagmatic eruption happened. This was recorded from 8:20 a.m. to 8:24 a.m. The third minor eruption of Sunday morning generated plumes that soared 2,100 meters above the crater.

Based on the report, magma vaporizing water into steam caused both eruptions. However, phreatomagmatic explosions involve fresh magma that reaches the surface.

Phivolcs said that the institute has yet to report ashfall in nearby areas. The Taal Volcano will remain under Alert Level 1, indicating a low level of unrest.

On Saturday, October 25, Phivolcs also recorded a minor phreatomagmatic eruption. On Facebook, the institute shared the time-lapse footage of the eruption at Taal’s main crater. Based on the record, this occurred at 5:30 p.m.

Phivolcs said, “This event generated plumes that rose 900 meters above the crater.” The video was captured by the main crater IP Camera, a digital video surveillance device.

Meanwhile, in October last year, Phivolcs also recorded an eruption in Taal Volcano. The volcano has been “in abnormal condition” since July 11, 2022. Last July, an alarm was sounded over the rising seismic activity at the volcano.
