Two Fake ‘Albularyo’ Steal Money & Jewelry from Victim in Valenzuela

Two fake albularyo or traditional healers were arrested after stealing money and jewelry from their victim in Valenzuela City.

Two women who pretended to be traditional healers ended up behind bars after stealing money and jewelry worth around three hundred thousand pesos from a victim they promised to help.

The suspects, a 50-year-old woman and her 34-year-old niece, met their target at a public market in Valenzuela and claimed they could cure the victim’s sick husband.

According to the report, the suspects told the victim that the illness could be healed through an offering to a so-called white dwarf spirit. They convinced the victim to hand over money and jewelry, saying it was part of a ritual needed to help the husband recover.

Believing their words, the victim followed their instructions and gave everything they asked for.

Investigators later found out that the suspects had taken a total of approximately three hundred thousand pesos, including valuable pieces of jewelry. After realizing she was tricked, the victim asked for help from authorities, which quickly led to a search.

The suspects were eventually arrested at a bus station, possibly attempting to flee. Police recovered the stolen money and jewelry from their possession, bringing relief to the victim. The authorities praised the quick response that helped prevent further loss.

The suspects claimed they only did it because they needed money. However, officials reminded the public that pretending to be healers and deceiving others is a serious crime. Many also expressed concern that others may have fallen for similar schemes.

The two women are now facing charges of estafa and are currently under the custody of the Valenzuela Police. Community members are encouraged to be careful and avoid trusting strangers offering miracle cures.

The authorities advised the public to seek medical help from licensed professionals and to stay alert against scams, especially those that take advantage of people’s fears and hopes.
