CCTV Captures Teen Stealing from Sleeping Man in Antipolo City

A teen was caught on CCTV breaking into a room and stealing from a man who was fast asleep in Barangay Cupang, Antipolo City.

A 17-year-old boy was caught on CCTV breaking into a room in Barangay Cupang, Antipolo City early Tuesday morning and stealing from a man who was fast asleep.

On early Tuesday (October 21, 2025), the 17-year-old boy forcibly broke the doorknob to enter the house, according to Police Lieutenant Colonel Mark Henry Garcia, officer-in-charge of the Antipolo City Police Station.

CCTV footage showed him wandering around at around five in the morning, checking the surroundings before sneaking into the room where a 40-year-old man was sound asleep.

The video revealed how the boy carefully approached the sleeping victim and took the wallet from under the bed. After taking the cash, he even placed the wallet back inside the drawer, as if trying not to make it too obvious.

Dahan-dahang pumunta kung saan natutulog ‘yung biktima at kinuha ‘yung wallet under doon sa higaan niya. Kinuha ‘yung cash. Pagkakuha noong pera, ibinalik pa niya ‘yung wallet doon sa drawer. May konsensya pa po ano,” Garcia said.

Eventually, the man woke up and realized that the money inside his wallet was gone. He immediately sought help from barangay officials, who then coordinated with the police.

“Pagkagising po nitong biktima, nalaman po niyang wala na nawawala na ‘yung pera na laman ng kanyang wallet. Humingi po siya ng tulong sa barangay at ‘yung barangay ay tumawag sa ating tropa. Naging succesful po ‘yung pag-aresto sa ating suspect,” he added.

The authorities were able to track down the suspect at his home in the same barangay. Since the boy is still a minor, he was brought to Bahay Pag-asa, a rehabilitation center for children in conflict with the law, instead of being sent to jail.

Under the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act, young offenders like him are handled through restorative programs focused on rehabilitation rather than punishment.

Unfortunately, the stolen money amounting to around nine thousand pesos was not recovered. Despite this, the police reminded the public to always secure their homes, especially at night, and to remain alert even in their own neighborhoods.
