Coco Martin Shares The Time When He Doubted Himself As An Actor

There was a time when Coco Martin doubted himself, and here’s what he shared.

Primetime King Coco Martin has this to share when he felt he was doubting himself as an actor and not feeling enough.

Sometimes, doubts come from oneself, and while one may think of this as something negative, the other side of this can actually be positive. It all depends on your perspective in life and how you would handle the kind of doubt that comes from you.

This also happened to Coco Martin, one of the most celebrated actors of today, and the Primetime King. He had doubted himself when he received no offer to do the film On The Job.

As an actor, he has always dreamed of working with award-winning director Erik Matti and Dondon Monteverde of Reality Entertainment. Matti directed On The Job and Buy Bust.

Apart from being an actor, he is also a director, and when Buy Bust was released, he even collected his staff together to watch it. He said, “Kaya noon sabi ko sa sarili ko, sana mapansin nila ako.”

From the release of the first On The Job film in 2013 to its sequel in 2021, Coco admitted that he had nearly begun to doubt his abilities as an actor after not receiving any offers for new roles.

But it turned out that it was just a matter of right timing. Amid his busy schedule in Batang Quiapo, he was surprised by a call from Matti and Monteverde to discuss possible projects. He recalled getting chills upon hearing the opportunity to talk to them.

He has long dreamed of working with them, and when the opportunity finally came, he made sure to make time. The director and producer discovered that Coco was already a fan during that meeting, which made them think that he was perfect to play the role of the young Tatang, the character of Joel Torre in the original 2013 On The Job film.
