Previously, the farm-to-market road project in Daraga, Albay has caught public attention after reports claimed it was overpriced and remains unfinished despite months passing since construction began.
The project is reportedly handled by a company linked to former Congressman Zaldy Co.

According to a report by Joash Malimban on the program Agenda of the Bilyonaryo News Channel, the project in Barangay Kidaco was supposed to be completed months ago but is still stuck in the excavation stage.
The contract stated that the contractor was given only 54 calendar days to finish the work, which started last March.
The project is being managed by Hi-Tone Construction and Development Corporation, a company said to be connected with Co. Residents have been expressing their frustration over the delay, especially since the unfinished road has made their daily routines more difficult.
Barangay Chairman Nelson Magallano shared that students who used to take the route to school now need to find longer and harder paths. Farmers also struggle to bring their products such as rice and copra to the market because of the incomplete road.
The muddy and uneven ground has added more inconvenience, especially during rainy days.

In a Senate hearing, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian mentioned that the project in Daraga is among those included in the alleged P10 billion worth of overpriced farm-to-market road contracts handled by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in 2024.
