Authorities Arrest Tricycle Driver for Punching Grade 6 Student in Tarlac City
A tricycle driver in Barangay Sto. Cristo, Tarlac City was arrested by authorities for punching a grade 6 student.
On Tuesday morning (October 14, 2025), a tricycle driver attacked a young Grade 6 student on her way to school.
The 12-year-old girl was walking with two classmates when the man suddenly came from behind and hit her on the back of the head without warning. The impact was so strong that she nearly fell to the ground.

The incident was caught on CCTV, showing the suspect speeding away right after the attack.
“Habang papalakad po papuntang eskwela itong ating menor de edad na biktima, bigla na lang mula sa likod ay humaharurot itong tricycle driver at biglang sinapak ‘yung ating biktima,” Tarlac City Police Station PLt. Col. Neil Rainier Mercado said.
Police from the Tarlac City Station quickly launched an investigation and traced the tricycle through its body number. It was later discovered that the vehicle belonged to the suspect’s father and had only been borrowed by the attacker that morning.
Authorities were able to arrest the suspect soon after. According to his family, he had been struggling with mental health issues, which made it difficult for investigators to communicate with him properly. They also shared that this was the first time he had shown violent behavior toward others.
The young victim was immediately taken for medical treatment and is now receiving counseling support from the local government to help her recover emotionally from the incident.

Police described the incident as an isolated case but assured the public that they are increasing patrols around schools to ensure students’ safety.
“So although we consider this as an isolated incident, paigtingin pa namin ‘yung aming mga presensya at pagpapatrolya sa mga vicinity ng ating mga paaralan upang maiwasan na ‘yung ganitong mga insidente,” Mercado added.
The suspect is currently in police custody and faces charges under Republic Act 7610, also known as the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.
