Veteran entertainment figure Ogie Diaz has addressed and refuted a viral social media post that falsely claimed GMA Network offered actress Angel Locsin a staggering ₱20 to ₱30 million contract for her alleged television comeback.
On his official Facebook page, Diaz reposted the misleading article to clarify that the claim was entirely baseless, cautioning the public against believing and spreading unverified reports. The fabricated story, originally shared by a Facebook page called “Showbizeness,” carried the headline, “QUEEN RETURNS? GMA, Nag-Alok ng 20–30 Million Contract Kay Angel Locsin.” It featured images of Angel along with captions implying that the network was negotiating her return to the Kapuso fold.
The viral post stated: “QUEEN RETURNS? GMA, NAG-ALOK NG 20–30 MILLION CONTRACT KAY ANGEL LOCSIN. Matapos ang ilang taong pananahimik sa telebisyon, muling naging sentro ng usapan sa mundo ng showbiz si Angel Locsin dahil sa mga usap-usapang umano ay GMA Network ng ₱20 milyon hanggang ₱30 milyon para makumbinsi siyang bumalik bilang Kapuso.” It even went as far as suggesting that the actress had upcoming primetime and special projects lined up with the network.
Ogie Diaz, however, was quick to shut down the circulating rumor, stressing that it was fabricated. He posted, “HALATANG FAKE NEWS! JUICE KO, BAKIT NAMAN 20–30 MILLION LANG ANG ALOK? MABABA YON FOR ANGEL LOCSIN.” His humorous yet pointed reaction highlighted both his disbelief and exasperation toward the continuous spread of fake news on social media.
Ogie Diaz also reminded the public to practice discernment and always verify information before sharing it, especially when it involves sensational claims about celebrities. In an era where misinformation easily spreads online, Diaz’s statement serves as a reminder to be vigilant against fake content.
