Baby Survivor in Cebu Earthquake Called a ‘Living Miracle’

Baby Survivor in Powerful Cebu Earthquake Hailed as ‘Living Miracle’

A baby survivor from Gibitngil Island in Medellin, Cebu, has been hailed as a “living miracle” after surviving the powerful 6.9 magnitude earthquake.

Recently, Bianca Lopez Salimbangon, a Facebook user, shared photos of a baby girl named Briana Grace during one of her relief missions. The post garnered various reactions from the online community.

The baby girl was the only survivor from her family after a large rock fell on their home, claiming the lives of her parents and older brother.

Salimbangon, met Briana while leading a relief mission that distributed food and water on the island. She was informed by locals about a family that had lost their loved ones and decided to visit the area to offer assistance.

When they arrived, they found baby Briana smiling despite the heartbreaking tragedy she had endured. Dr. Salimbangon shared how the child’s cheerful nature brought both warmth and sadness to everyone who met her, knowing she had already lost so much at such a young age.

It was later learned that Briana’s grandfather was among those who helped in the rescue operation, making the story even more emotional. Her late father was once a rescuer himself and had recently saved a life just two months before the tragedy. He was supposed to be honored for his bravery.

Baby Briana is now under the care of her grandparents, along with her aunts and uncles, who continue to provide love and support. The family remains strong but is in need of help, especially for the baby’s daily needs like milk, diapers, and vitamins.

A donation drive has been launched to help Briana and her family rebuild their lives.

This is baby Briana Grace, a true survivor and a living miracle. Tragically, both her parents and kuya lost their lives when a large rock struck their home, causing it to collapse. By God’s grace, beautiful baby Briana was spared and is now in the loving care of her lolo and lola in Gibitngil Island, Medellin.

Through the generosity of our donors, we have been able to provide cash assistance to her family. For those who would still like to extend their support, donations may be sent to the GCash account of Baby Briana’s aunt, as her grandparents do not have any bank details. Your kindness and compassion will go a long way in helping Briana as she begins this difficult journey.
