House Employees Refuse to Wear Uniforms Amid Flood Control Project Issue
Several House employees have chosen not to wear their uniforms while commuting amid flood control project controversy.
Some employees of the House of Representatives have refused to wear their uniforms while commuting, fearing they might be targeted due to the ongoing controversy involving flood control projects.
Speaker Faustino Dy III acknowledged this concern and admitted that public trust in the institution has dropped as a result of the issue.

During the Monday flag ceremony, Speaker Dy expressed understanding of the heavy challenges the House is currently facing. He said that some staff members reportedly change or remove their uniforms before going to work to avoid being recognized as congressional employees.
“Alam kong hindi madali ang sitwasyon ng Kongreso sa panahong ito. Mabigat ang hamon sa ating institusyon at maging sa bawat isa sa atin. May nabalitaan nga po ako na may mga kasamahan tayong kailangang magpalit o mag-alis ng uniporme bago pumasok dahil sa takot na mapag-initan habang nagko-commute papunta dito sa Kongreso,” he said.
Dy explained that the controversy has affected not only the institution but also the people working within it.
The House speaker admitted that it is painful to see the loss of confidence from the public, but he reminded everyone that it also serves as a wake-up call. He urged all House employees to do their part in rebuilding that trust through honest and dedicated service.
The Speaker emphasized that every worker, regardless of position, plays a vital role in the legislative process. From preparing documents to maintaining the cleanliness and security of the halls, each contribution helps ensure that Congress functions smoothly.

He also praised the staff for their hard work, especially during long budget hearings that last until late at night.
Dy called for unity, integrity, and commitment among House employees, reminding them that their efforts go beyond personal gain, they serve millions of Filipino families who depend on their work.
