Julia Montes Gets Real About the Nepo Baby Controversy
JULIA MONTES – Actress Julia Montes didn’t hold back when asked about the trending “nepo babies” issue, giving a response that instantly caught the internet’s attention.
Julia Montes showed her candid side in a recent interview with DJ Chacha, where she shared her honest thoughts about the ongoing “nepo baby” issue in the Philippines. The light yet insightful exchange was featured in a video clip uploaded on DJ Chacha’s Instagram page, drawing attention from netizens who appreciated Julia’s straightforwardness.
During their conversation, DJ Chacha asked Julia, “Anong masasabi mo sa mga nepo babies?” The actress replied with a hint of sympathy and humor, saying, “Nalulungkot din ako.” She went on to explain that if someone like her still worries about expenses, she can only imagine how much harder it is for ordinary Filipino workers who struggle with daily living costs.

Julia Montes acknowledged the glaring contrast between the lavish lifestyles of some so-called “nepo babies” — children of celebrities or influential figures — and the harsh reality faced by most Filipinos. “So, ang hirap ng buhay. Pero pag nakakakita ka ng sobra ring lavish lifestyle, syempre napapaano ka rin na… talaga ba? Napapaganun ka na lang?” she said, followed by her playful yet relatable remark, “Hashtag, sana all!”
Beyond the viral joke, Julia used the moment to shed light on a more serious issue affecting every worker in the country — the widening economic gap. “Ang napapansin ko kasi, tumataas ang bilihin, lahat. Pero ang sweldo, hindi tumataas. So sana, kung may tumataas man sa Pilipinas, tumataas din sana yung salary kasi hindi nababalanse,” she told DJ Chacha.
She further pointed out the growing disparity between the prices of basic commodities like rice and the stagnant wages of employees. “Ang layo nung bigas sa sweldo na hindi tumataas. Pero taas ‘to nang taas, so parang unfair din para sa mamamayan,” Julia said.

DJ Chacha couldn’t help but admire Julia’s candor and intelligence in discussing national concerns, even joking, “Galing ni Julia. Ikaw na lang kaya ang iboto namin sa 2028?”
Julia’s mix of wit, empathy, and awareness once again proved why she remains one of the most grounded and respected actresses of her generation.
