Typhoon Paolo Brings Floods & Heavy Rains Across Luzon

Various Parts of Luzon Experience Massive Flooding Due to Heavy Rains Brought by Typhoon Paolo

Typhoon Paolo battered parts of Luzon, bringing with it strong winds and heavy rains that caused massive flooding.

In Mariveles, Bataan, water levels in Barangay Ipag quickly rose by midday, reaching chest-deep in some areas. Families with children and elderly residents were trapped in their homes and had to wait for help as the floods continued to rise.

The flooding emphasizes the urgent need for rescue operations and immediate assistance to affected communities.

According to PAGASA, Paolo made landfall in the province of Isabela and was expected to cut across northern Luzon throughout the day. The storm was forecast to bring intense rainfall in several areas, including Aurora, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela, Mountain Province, Ifugao, and Benguet.

The heavy downpour raised fears of flash floods and landslides, especially in mountainous regions where the ground was already saturated from recent rains.

Aside from the threat of flooding, Paolo’s strong winds also posed serious risks. The weather bureau warned that the typhoon could topple electric posts, uproot trees, and damage homes and other structures.

Power outages and road blockages were also likely as the storm continued to move across the region.

For many residents, Typhoon Paolo brought back the familiar struggle of braving storms and protecting their families while dealing with limited resources. Community volunteers and local authorities have been mobilizing to provide assistance, but the scale of the typhoon’s impact remains a challenge.

The public is urged to remain alert, follow safety advisories, and prioritize evacuation when needed.
