Aiko Melendez is now single
Actress-politician Aiko Melendez announced her breakup with Zambales First District Representative Jay Khonghun.
Aiko and Jay celebrated their 7th anniversary in November last year. It was a big celebration. Back then, they admitted that there were plans about getting to the next level of their relationship. However, that was the end of their anniversary celebration as the Quezon City Fifth District Councilor released a statement that they are no longer together.
For the many years they had been together, fans were anticipating that sooner or later, they would tie the knot. However, their relationship came to an end.
In a recent episode of Showbiz Update, the YouTube showbiz talk show of talent manager-vlogger Ogie Diaz, he shared the statement that Aiko Melendez made regarding this matter.
Ogie is the talent manager of Aiko, and they have been friends for many years already. In her statement, the actress-politician confirmed that she and Jay Khonghun are no longer together.
She said that it was a mutual decision that was “not made lightly but comes from a place of respect and understanding” of what was best for them.
Aiko also stressed that there was no third party involved. She added that they remained grateful for the memories they had together and the support they got in their journey.
“Our focus now is to move forward with grace,” the actress-politician said. Then, Aiko Melendez asked for understanding and privacy as they go through this change in their lives. “Thank you for your support and prayers,” she said.
Aiko Melendez was previously married to actor Jomari Yllana. They had a son named Andre, who has officially entered the entertainment industry.
Several years after Aiko and Jomari separated, she found a new love with Martin Jickain. They got married and eventually divorced. Their love story gave them their beautiful daughter Marthena.
