Nadine Lustre & Vice Ganda Reunite After 10 Years in MMFF Movie
NADINE LUSTRE – After years of taking on diverse roles, Nadine Lustre now faces one of her most challenging characters yet — a pageant queen in Call Me Mother.
Nadine Lustre is stepping into a new role as she portrays a beauty queen in the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry Call Me Mother.
During her guesting on TFC’s Are You G?, the award-winning actress revealed that she dedicated time to prepare for the part, which involved undergoing actual pageant training. “I’ve done a lot of research when it comes to being a beauty queen. Research and I’ve done a few days of training, because my character in the film is a beauty queen and it’s very important for me to know about the industry and about my character as well,” Nadine explained.

Part of her preparation included focusing on fitness to authentically portray her character competing in pageants. “A lot of preparations too when it comes to fitness because eventually, you know, in the film I would have scenes wherein I am actually competing,” she shared.
However, Nadine admitted that one of the toughest aspects of the role was mastering the elegance and posture required of a pageant queen. “I would say the trickiest part of my role is that every time I’m on set or every time we’re filming or shooting a scene, my posture needs to be different, and the thing is I’m used to… I’m hunched all the time. But in the movie, I have to be upright and beauty queen posture, so it’s kind of tricky. It’s very challenging because I always have to remember,” she said.
In August, her agency, Viva Artists Agency, posted behind-the-scenes photos of her training, offering fans a preview of how seriously she was preparing for the project.

Call Me Mother also serves as a much-awaited reunion between Nadine and Vice Ganda, who last teamed up in the 2015 MMFF blockbuster Beauty and the Bestie. On It’s Showtime, Nadine expressed her excitement, saying, “I’m so, so excited na makatrabaho ka ulit after 10 years. I already know that this reunion will be very, very special.”
The movie is a collaboration between ABS-CBN Film Productions Inc., The IdeaFirst Company, and Viva Communications Inc., written by Daisy G. Cayanan, Daniel S. Saniana, and Jun Robles Lana. The story follows Twinkle, a vibrant single queer mother, as she tries to prove her love and dedication to her adoptive son despite unexpected challenges that test their bond.
