Actor-turned-politician Arron Villaflor has this post for Cebu following the earthquake, but people online have these reactions.

Cebu Earthquake

The Archdiocesan Shrine of Santa Rosa de Lima in Daanbantayan, Cebu, was partially collapsed, and a lot more establishments were destroyed by the intense shaking. The local government unit declared a state of calamity, and the number of deaths has risen to 69.

There have been more than 990 aftershocks recorded from a place not known to be as quake-prone, until the September 30 earthquake. President Bongbong Marcos has ordered the full mobilization of government agencies to address the situation and wholeheartedly sympathizes with the families who lost their loved ones.

Many prayed for Cebu, including celebrities, and among them was actor-turned-politician Arron Villaflor. While his intentions were pure and sincere, they couldn’t help but think otherwise because he had his photo included in his post. To many netizens, it seemed inappropriate given his role as a public servant. They felt the situation was used as an opportunity for self-promotion or image-building.

Meanwhile, Bogo City was the hardest-hit area, and the search and rescue (SAR) operations are concentrating here. On Wednesday, army troops, police, and civilian volunteers, supported by backhoes and sniffer dogs, were deployed to conduct house-to-house searches for survivors.

The death toll in Bogo was expected to climb. Ongoing operations were hindered by intermittent rain and damaged bridges and roads, delaying and slowing the race to save lives.

Government agencies are doing their roles, like the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), inspecting roads and bridges for safety, the Department of Energy (DOE), working to restore the power supply, the Department of Health (DOH), deploying additional personnel to hospitals, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) distributing food packs and other assistance.
