PAGASA releases an update about Paolo PH, a tropical depression.
PAOLO PH – An update about the tropical depression and the areas under tropical cyclone wind signal (TCWS).
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has recently released an update about Paolo PH, a low pressure area that is now a tropical depression within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

As per the latest, Paolo hits the Philippines, and based on the update, it has slightly intensified as it moves at 25 km/h west northwestward over the Philippine Sea. It has maximum sustained wind of 55 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 70 km/h, and a central pressure of 1002 hPa.

Things to know about Signal No. 1:
- Wind threat: Strong winds
- Warning lead time: 36 hours
- Range of wind speeds: 39 to 61 km/h (Beaufort 6 to 7)
- Potential impacts of winds: Minimal to minor threat to life and property
The highest Wind Signal that will likely be hoisted throughout its passage is Wind Signal No. 3, but there’s a possibility that it will reach the typhoon category before making landfall. Considering this possibility, it may reach as high as Signal No. 4.
Based on the forecast, Paolo will generally move westward to west northwestward, and may make landfall in Isabela or northern Aurora on Friday, October 3. It will continue to intensify and may reach severe tropical storm category by early morning of Friday.
It will exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Saturday morning, October 4.
Based on a previous article, Severe Tropical Storm Opong‘s onslaught has caused the worst devastation in Masbate. During its passage, the highest tropical cyclone wind signal (TCWS) that was in effect was Signal No. 5.
