After being tagged in the flood control anomalies, Senator Chiz Escudero and several others may face prosecution.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) confirmed that the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has recommended the prosecution of Chiz Escudero and others.
Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has recommended filing charges against Senator Francis Escudero and former Senator Nancy Binay for indirect bribery and malversation of public funds.
As the hearing and probe continue regarding the anomalous flood control projects of the government, several names were tagged. In a previous article, the lawyer of Brice Hernandez said several senators may be implicated. Hernandez is a dismissed Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Engineer.
Following the names tagged by Hernandez and former Public Works and Highways Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has recommended the filing of charges against these people.
“Indirect bribery, malversation — and there are other cases under 301,” Remulla said when asked what charges the NBI are recommending. The possible charges also include violations of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
“Those named will be required to answer, under the rule of law, the serious allegations now standing against them,” SOJ added.
