Kapuso star Shuvee Etrata, amid the issues, received a message from GMA Network Senior Vice President Annette Gozon-Valdes.
A lot of celebrities have been canceled in the Philippines because of their political stance. It appears the public deemed them unworthy of their admiration if it does not align with their belief. Currently, the one widely bashed after people unearthed an old post was Shuvee Etrata, and many did not like how she claimed to be an empath towards former President Rodrigo Duterte after he was arrested because of the thousands that have been killed due to his war on drugs.
Shuvee was criticized for her political stance, and it prompted her to release a statement. In her video, she also expressed gratitude to Duterte’s “war on drugs,” and it massively trended online.
The “Pinoy Big Brother” alumna stated she stands with Filipinos following backlash to her stance on politics. The issue was further fueled by a now-deleted Instagram repost from Shuvee’s uncle, who defended her while expressing support for Duterte’s leadership.
In Shuvee’s statement, she wrote, “Huwag po kayong mag alala, natuto na po ako. Lalawakan ko pa po ang pag-iisip ko para sa ating lahat. I will continue to learn and grow. Mahal ko po kayo at mahal ko ang Pilipinas lalo na sa panahon ngayon.”
Amid the buzz, GMA Network Senior Vice President Annette Gozon-Valdes expressed a message for the actress when she reposted a statement from her official fanbase’s social media page.
Gozon-Valdes assured her that they will be there for her and that they know where she stands. The GMA exec wrote, “We know where your heart is @shuveeetrata, we are here for you 110%.”
