Male Customer Gets Surprised by Single Serving of Tortang Talong at Local Eatery
A male customer was surprised by the price of a single serving of tortang talong at the karinderya where he bought his meal.
Recently, Ruan Yu II, a Facebook user, shared a photo of the breakfast he bought at an eatery in Manila, where he was shocked at the cost of the tortang talong. The post quickly went viral and gathered various reactions from the online community.
Ruan shared that his usual breakfast spot was closed that day, so he decided to buy food from another eatery instead. He ordered a serving of rice, two fried eggs, and one tortang talong for takeout.
When it was time to pay, he was told the total was P135. Although puzzled, he went ahead and paid the amount. On his way back, he started calculating in his head why the bill was that high. At his usual eatery, he would already get rice, meat, vegetables, and even coffee for a similar price.
Curious, he returned to the karinderya to ask about the pricing. The staff explained that the rice cost P15, the two eggs P35, and the tortang talong a surprising P85.
The customer admitted he was shocked at how costly a single serving of the vegetable dish was, especially since it looked and tasted like a regular home-cooked version.
He then realized on how quickly food expenses in the city can pile up, sharing that he often tries to stretch his budget of P200 per day for meals. But with a breakfast nearing P150, it made him realize the struggle of managing expenses when dining out.
