Super Typhoon Nando Hits Different Parts of Northern Luzon w/ Strong Winds and Heavy Rains
Super Typhoon Nando is now battering various parts of Northern Luzon, particularly in Batanes, Cagayan, and Isabela.
On early Monday morning (September 21, 2025), strong winds and heavy rains had already struck coastal towns, while large waves hit seaports and coastal areas.
In Sta. Ana, Cagayan, residents experienced powerful winds and driving rain sweeping across the town before sunrise. Videos from locals showed how the storm’s intensity made it difficult to move around as the weather worsened.

In Isabela, more than a thousand families were evacuated from four coastal towns due to the threat of storm surges. In Maconacon, at least 263 families, or 731 people, have been staying in evacuation centers.
These evacuees came from ten barangays affected by rising waters. In Dinapigue, 42 families or 290 individuals were also moved to safety. In Divilacan, 27 families, mostly from the indigenous Agta community, were evacuated after their coastal homes were threatened by huge waves.

Meanwhile, 19 families from Palanan were also relocated, totaling 71 individuals.
Local disaster officials in Palanan have started checking for possible damage to homes caused by the storm surge. As of now, no widespread flooding has been recorded in Isabela, though two major overflow bridges, Alicaocao in Cauayan City and Cabagan-Sta. Maria in Cabagan, remain impassable.
In Batanes, the skies turned dark and winds grew stronger by mid-morning, with local authorities sharing updates from Basco where gusts were already being felt.
While the full impact of Super Typhoon Nando is still unfolding, communities in the north are bracing for stronger rains and winds in the coming hours.
Authorities continue to remind residents in coastal and low-lying areas to remain vigilant and follow official advisories for their safety.
