Emil Sumangil had this claim in his recent Facebook post
Kapuso journalist Emil Sumangil made a revelation about the trouble that happened during a protest against corruption on September 21, 2025.
Emil has been in the broadcast industry for many years already. He already went through a lot as a reporter, news anchor, and documentarist.
Back in July, Emil did na interview with Julie “Dondon” Patidongan or Alias Totoy, who was the whistleblower in the missing sabungeros case.

In that interview, as the names of the alleged mastermind, businessman Atong Ang, and his alleged accomplice, former actress Gretchen Barretto, were mentioned, people feared for Emil’s safety.
Following that interview, Emil Sumangil’s wife shared a post on social media requesting the public to pray for her husband. When the veteran journalist was absent on GMA’s news program 24 Oras, speculations surfaced that it could be a result of his controversial interview. Emil assured that he was okay.
On September 22, Emil had another fearless pronouncement. In a Facebook post, he said that the troublemakers in Mendiola and Ayala Bridge were funded. He said that sources revealed that some politicians and a lawyer were behind this.
“SOURCES: Ilang pulitiko at isang abugado, nagpondo sa grupong nanggulo sa Mendiola at Ayala bridge sa Maynila,” the Kapuso journalist wrote. As of this writing, Emil has not shared an update about the revelation from his sources.

In the comment section of his post, netizens hoped that perpetrators would pay for what they did. “Sana mapanagot at ikulong ang mga nag pondo sa panggugulo, mga sakim at walang malasakit ang gumawa nyan,” a netizen commented.
Meanwhile, Emil Sumangil was regarded by netizens as the next Mike Enriquez. The late journalist was known for his public affairs program Imbestigador, which focused on exposing anomalies, corruption, and controversies.
