Golden Gate College in Batangas Declares Class Suspension Due to Bomb Threat
Classes at Golden Gate College (GGC) in Batangas City were disrupted after a bomb threat forced the school to suspend operations
On Friday, September 19, 2025, the Golden Gate College declared the suspension of classes and send students and staff home due to a bomb threat. The incident elicited reactions from the online community.
The incident began around 7:10 a.m. when a teacher discovered a note inside the female restroom on the third floor. The message warned that a bomb was placed on the fourth floor of the school building.
Authorities were immediately alerted, and the Batangas City Police and Command Center quickly responded to the scene.
Soon after, another note was found, this time claiming that the supposed bomb had already been activated. With over a thousand students and school personnel inside, the administration decided to evacuate everyone to ensure safety.
Fortunately, the evacuation went smoothly, and no one was harmed. Teams from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, local traffic officers, and other support units were deployed to secure the area and manage the flow of vehicles around the school.
Specialists from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit, Provincial Explosives Canine Unit, and the Philippine Coast Guard carefully inspected all 80 classrooms across the four-story building. After a thorough check, officials declared the school safe and lifted the emergency response.
However, the incident left students, parents, and teachers shaken. It was not the first-time schools in Batangas had to suspend classes due to bomb threats, which have caused not only inconvenience but also fear within the community.
Authorities once again reminded the public that spreading false threats is a serious crime. Beyond the disruption it brings, it endangers lives and wastes valuable resources. Anyone proven guilty of making or spreading such hoaxes faces heavy fines and jail time.
